Hello, welcome to my blog! I’m Mike and if you thought you were going to get a cold beer and line-dancing lessons, let me clear things up. I don’t know how to line-dance.
But I do know how to save money on just about everything. Even Disney.
It wasn’t always that way. I made some stupid financial moves. Finally, I started to listen to people who knew what they were talking about and started seeing what steps I could take to get on better footing. Thanks, Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman.
Reining in your spending takes some discipline, it’s not always easy. And it doesn’t always make everybody happy. But it will get better if you take action.
Start Small
Set up a budget. Keep a spending journal. Start planning meals, cooking and eating at home. Say NO to impulse purchases. Visit the library instead of the book store. Work out at home instead of paying for a gym membership.
Couponing, rebate apps, preventative maintenance, DIY and upcycling. All good strategies to make sure that your hard-earned dollars are stretched as far as possible.
Be more intentional
Eliminate the things you don’t need. This looks different for everyone and only you can decide what works for your family. Being in charge of your finances is powerful.
You can fit in hobbies, travel, whatever you like to do for fun in a frugal lifestyle.
Being frugal is so much better than being broke.
Join me as I share some of my favorite ideas for saving money, recipes for eating well on a budget, and ways to take Disney trips even when money is tight.
Adding tools to your toolbox is how this works. To paraphrase Maslow, “if the only tool you have is a hammer all your problems look like nails.”
