Fun Halloween Ideas for Adults

Adults have as much fun as kids do on Halloween

Adults can’t get away with trick or treating anymore so we have to plan our Halloween festivities a little differently. No reason not to have scary vampires, spiderwebs, or superheroes. Captain Hook and Tinkerbell are welcome guests at any costume party.

The parties go later into the evening. The spirits may be different. Dressing up in costumes and dancing to The Monster Mash is a fun way to celebrate the season without the sugar shock.

Dress up as your favorite character

How about Cat Woman?

Or Wonder Woman?

Maybe Fred and Wilma?

Take a look at the options available to give you inspiration. Pick up a ready-made costume or look for the elements that you can use to create your own costume.

The thrift stores are perfect for finding some basic pieces necessary to put together a DIY ghost costume. Or any handmade costume.

Check out a Halloween store for good ideas and then spend some time scouring the fabric store, thrift store, and dollar store to find everything you need on a reasonable budget.

Fair warning-it’s usually a little more involved than a bed sheet and some safety pins.

You may not need a sewing machine, but if you have a hot glue gun or fabric glue you can probably do a great job of creating most DIY costumes.

Plan on a few fun games to break the ice

We weren’t gathering last Halloween or the one before so it’s good news that this year you can party with all your old friends, and hopefully some new ones!

I have some fun games for Halloween that you can print out and play with adults and kids alike.

Halloween Truth or Scare

Halloween Truth or Scare printable game is a PDF file that includes 3 pages with 32 pre-filled cards and an additional page with 8 cards that are editable in Adobe Reader or you can print your challenges by hand. Print as many of these as you’d like to customize your game for you and your friends and family. Truth or Scare is available on Etsy.

Party Decorations for the Adult Halloween Party

Use pumpkins and gourds. Spread spider webs over anything that will hold still. Candles or twink lights add the necessary ghostly glow. Instead of buying themed glasses or paper products, opt for a solid color that can also be used for other occasions.

Halloween party decorations

Check out Dollar Tree for Halloween decorations including spiders, bats, and cobwebs.

A 10ft. Light-Up Spider Web sets the spooky stage for a Halloween party at home.

Spooky accessories are available now for your Halloween night party. Last year and definitely the year before we were not gathering for parties so you can try to make up for it this year.

Plan for some wicked good food

Ghouls and goblins still have a place at the snack table. So go ahead and bring on the scary food. The mummy appetizers, the gnarly finger cheese straws, the puking Pumpkin. The decorations might be a little different from the kids’ party, too.

Cupcakes with Halloween cupcake toppers

Add a tray of cupcakes to the table and decorate with these cute Halloween cupcake toppers. They are easy to print and assemble. Find them here on Etsy.

Go ahead and channel your inner Martha Stewart as you plan your spooky menu. Pinterest should be your go-to source for good ideas on the food that you want to serve. Pick 3 or 4 easy appetizers and 1 or 2 beverages for an easy and affordable spread to please all of your guests.

If there are any volunteers to help you put your party together, by all means, take them up on it.
