Ideas for Family Movie Night Care Packages

Being stuck at home doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It doesn’t have to be a bore or a hardship. With the right ingredients, it can be downright fun.

If you know someone who could use a night out, without leaving the house, put together a Family Movie Night care package and treat them to a night of entertainment that costs less than the price of one movie theater ticket.

What do you need for a movie night care package?

Movie. Check.

Snacks. Check.

Beverages. Check.

Pack it up in a basket or a large popcorn bowl if you are planning to deliver it. For long-distance care-packages pack it up safely in a box. Pop some (unbuttered) popcorn on the stove and use that as the packaging material for the box.

For the movie…

Make sure you know what technology is available to the folks who will be receiving your care package. They might already have a streaming service so they can choose their own movie. Or they have a huge Blu-ray or DVD collection already so they can choose their own movie.

If, on the other hand, you know they love Disney movies, or Sci-fi, or scary movies you can select a movie to add to the care package.

If you don’t want the awesome responsibility of selecting the movie how about adding a Redbox code or gift certificate to the care package? The choice of movies can be theirs.

Go to Redbox.com/gifts, click MORE from the main menu, and from the dropdown menu select Gift Cards.

Select Promo Codes and order the number of promo codes you want to purchase. Promo codes are 1.75 each and are purchased in quantities of 5, 10, 20, and 50.

Have the promo codes delivered to YOUR email address and you can distribute them as you wish. Then the recipient of your really cool care package can use the code to select their own movie from Redbox.

For the Snacks…

Check out Dollar Tree for movies, snacks, and more to add to your care package. If you are planning multiple care packages, shop DollarTree.com, and arrange for free ship-to-store and avoid shopping in the store.

Pick up theater box candy to add to your care packages. They carry a wide variety of candies in-store and online.  Popcorn buckets, single-serve paper popcorn bags, microwave popcorn, Fiddle Faddle, or Cracker Jacks are just a few of the things you can toss in.

Choose a theme.

Make it a Disney movie night. If you can’t get to Disney World or Disneyland, check out the supply of Disney-themed snacks on Amazon.

Try a classic Disney movie, like Sleeping Beauty or Dumbo. There’s always Pixar or a gazillion StarWars movies to choose from. Make it a Frozen sing-a-long.

How about a Pirate move? Pirate’s Booty, chocolate coins, and Pirate Flash Pops are going to add to the fun.

Plan the snacks accordingly. Have fun with Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Stock up on Theater Box candy at Dollar Tree. Order online and have it shipped-to-store.

for the beverages

Don’t forget to add beverages. The kiddos will enjoy hot chocolate, juice boxes, or lemonade.

Add a bottle of wine or a 6-pack of beer for the adult package if it’s appropriate.
